The mobile broadband market is set to see growth in the years ahead thanks to increased demand from consumers, it has been suggested.
Dutch analyst Telecompaper noted that the sector is beginning to move away from high-end products to more easily accessible ones, reports ComputerWeekly.com.
In the coming five years, the firm said that mobile broadband modem demand could increase by 32% on a yearly basis.
Largest growth will probably occur in areas such as Switzerland, Greece and the Nordic region, Telecompaper asserted.
In 2007, there were about 5.8 subscribers to mobile data modems in Western Europe, it revealed, with 70% of those in locations such as Italy and the UK.
Shipments of mobile broadband modems are likely to hit 17 million by 2012 throughout the same region, the company highlighted.
This week, Qualcomm stated that it is looking to enhance its existing services after it was awarded new radio spectrum.
