3 launches mobile phone for Facebook fans

11 November 2008

The 3G mobile phone operator 3 is to launch a new handset designed specifically for fans of social networking sites such as Facebook.

The phone, called the INQ1, features special software that allows users to access and edit their social networking profiles more easily than on conventional internet-ready handsets.

Adam Davis, Head of Devices at 3, told the Times: "This is a handset for people who live and breathe social networking. It will completely change the way that people access Facebook on a mobile phone."

It includes features such as a dedicated button allowing quick access to the Facebook site, although the handset also works with other social networking sites like MySpace.

It is due for launch in the UK this week and will be available to buy during the first week of December, just in time for Christmas.

Last month, 3 announced plans to offer the Nokia Comes With Music service on its network, which allows users to download an unlimited amount of music from the Nokia Music Store catalogue for 18 months.
