In order to make sure its mobile phones are tough enough, Nokia conducts several stress tests in its labs before the handsets are released for sale.
According to TechRadar, the mobile phone supplier has released a number of video clips showing the tests in action and demonstrating the durability of its products.
One experiment involves exposing the N79 phone to the same pressure as a fifteen stone man sitting on the device to ensure it would not break.
Another sees the handset dropped from a height using a camera recording 100,000 frames a second. This shows the phone rippling as it hits the ground, yet staying intact.
There is also a twist test to ensure the phones will not snap when used repeatedly in two-handed gaming and an extreme experiment which sees the handset smashed into a concrete block.
"Perhaps next time you fall over drunkenly and throw your phone miles down the road, spare a thought for all the testing to make sure it doesn't break," states TechRadar.
Last month, mobile phone maker Sonim announced plans to launch what it claims is the world's toughest handset in the US next year.
It said the 100% waterproof XP3 is able to operate in extreme temperatures and survive falls from heights of up to nine feet.
