Mobile phone coverage is now available for O2 customers on Glasgow's Subway network, allowing commuters to use their handsets while underground.
The service has been introduced at five of the Subway's busiest stations - Buchanan Street, St Enoch, Hillhead, Partick and Govan.
Initially, consumers will only be able to use their mobile phones to make calls and send texts while waiting on these station platforms.
However, there are plans to extend the coverage through the tunnels if there is enough demand from consumers.
O2 spokesman Gregor Borrie told the BBC: "From today, passengers will be able to walk into the five underground stations, make voice calls, send messages, send photographs and browse the internet over their phones."
The Tyne and Wear Metro was the first underground train network in the UK to allow mobile phone use in tunnels and on underground stations.
There have been also plans to introduce coverage on the London Underground.
