Microsoft launches update for Live Search Mobile

9 January 2009

The latest update has been released for Windows Mobile's Live Search application. Included in the patch is a new predictive text tool for the application's search engine, which has been designed to speed up the process of typing in queries.

There is also a new location detection tool that allows users to determine precisely where they are in the world without the need for a phone with GPS capabilities and an improved mapping function, which offers consumers the option of viewing locations in "3D-style" through Bird's Eye.

Customers do not have to possess the latest version of Windows Mobile to install the update as it is backwards compatible for all phones from Windows Mobile 5 onwards.

Microsoft announced this week that it has been chosen to provide the Live Search application to customers of Verizon Communications, with which it has signed a five-year deal that will come into effect over the next few months.
