Motorola releases motion-enabled mobile phone

12 May 2009

A new 3G mobile phone has been launched by Motorola, giving users the ability to operate it through movement.

Known as the MOTO W7 Active Edition, the handset comes complete with the accelerometer, which senses the body's motions, hand gestures and orientation to conduct tasks.

"The accelerometer technologies put a new spin on the traditional relationship we have with our phone by not only simplifying how you use it, but making it more fun in the process," comments Alain Mutricy, Senior Vice-President of Motorola Mobile Devices.

It also comes with a built-in pedometer, which records daily walks and runs and can be used in conjunction with a personal trainer function.

There are also two cameras, one for 2.0 megapixel photographs and another for making video calls.

Motorola recently announced that its 2G clamshell phone MOTO V10 was to "dazzle" customers with its black to red colour gradation.
