New iPhone OS 3.0 software has been made available to existing iPhone customers through iTunes.
Available free of charge, it provides an additional 100 features to mobile phone customers, including the opportunity to use the handset as a modem - known as internet tethering.
"The combination of the new software update available to all and the new range of iPhone 3G S devices allows us to continue to differentiate O2 in the marketplace," commented Chief Executive Officer of O2 in the UK Ronan Dunne.
Owners of the 2G iPhone are also free to benefit from the new features, although some features will not be available.
It was revealed earlier this month that O2 was to launch the iPhone 3G S today (June 19th).
