iPhone 3G S proves successful in first days

23 June 2009

The new iPhone 3G S devices have proved popular with customers, Apple has announced, with sales soaring since its release last week.

Over one million mobile phone handsets have been sold in the five days since its release, taking advantage of its range of additional features.

"Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning," commented Steve Jobs, Chief Executive Officer of Apple.

Among the functions of the new handset are its landscape keyboard, hands-free voice control, three megapixel camera and access to over 50,000 applications.

O2 announced earlier this week that sales of the new handset had got off to an "incredible start" after it sold more than its predecessor on its first day of release.

The network reported traffic to its website was ten times higher than on an average day.
