Card fraud starting to fall
The body revealed that fraud on credit and debit cards fell by more than a quarter throughout the course of 2009.
Rumina Hassam, Personal Finance Expert at the site, commented: "Consumers also deserve a pat on the back, as they too are clearly taking steps to better protect themselves from becoming a victim of this type of crime."
She emphasised that online banking fraud, however, is still on the rise so customers need to be educated in how to protect themselves while surfing the net.
Limiting the number of credit card accounts which are active at any one time is a great means of tackling fraud, Ms Hassam suggested, as this makes documents more susceptible to theft.
