A new credit card has been launched by Sainsbury's, promising to offer a wide range of benefits to holders.

The Sainsbury's Gold Credit Card comes with a variable rate of 9.94% on purchases and a number of added features, such as interest-free cash withdrawals.

Other benefits include family travel insurance, no fees on foreign exchange transactions and no cash advance fees in the UK.

Stuart McKeggie, Head of Sainsbury's Credit Cards, commented: "It is excellent for travelling because there are no usage fees and it offers great travel insurance.

"It's excellent at home because of its competitive APR and double Nectar point rewards."

Research from the company recently found that 1.28 million have left booking their summer holiday until the last minute this year in a bid to bag a bargain.

It also estimated that £5.46 billion of summer holiday spending would be put on credit cards.
