Loans help holiday-makers get away

17 May 2005

A new poll has revealed that more people are taking more holidays every year.

A survey by American Express Travel Insurance revealed that fewer Brits are opting for one big, single annual holiday, and instead are taking one or two vacations and a number of breaks.

The poll of 10,000 customers revealed that the number of people affording to take holidays of five nights or more is set to go up by 15 per cent.

Also, the number of people taking short breaks looked set to rise by five per cent.

Many people are taking advantage of loan offers in order to pay for breaks and holidays, to get away from it all.

Marketing manager for American Express Insurance Services, Joanne Field, said: "Travel is more accessible and fluid than it has ever been.

"Consumers are just as likely to pop over to New York for the weekend to take advantage of the strong pound's buying power as they are to jet off to Dublin for lunch travelling with a discount airline ticket."
