The growing trend for Brits to take long weekends or mini-breaks appears to be matched by increasing prices in taking such holidays.
Mintel has revealed that mini break travel is set to rise by an impressive 36 per cent over the next four years.
However, there are hidden costs which many are not taking into account, such as travel insurance, which can take the sting out of any unexpected events on holiday.
In order to take into account all costs that may arise from a holiday, a personal loan is recommended as a solution.
The marketing manager of American Express Travel Insurance Joanne Field said: "It is easy to overlook or not bother taking out travel insurance when only going away for a few days.
"However it is just as important to protect yourself and family on a mini break as for a main holiday."
