High street bank Alliance & Leicester has launched a scheme designed to attract new customers.
The bank is calling on existing account holders to recommend a friend.
Any customers who hold a premier or premier plus account will now receive £50 for a successful introduction.
With the £25 bonus currently offered to customers who apply for a premier plus account online, Alliance & Leicester has pointed out that a new customer could see a bonus of as much as £75 on joining.
Alliance & Leicester launched the scheme following research, which showed that 37 per cent of current account holders choose their account based on a recommendation from a friend.
The move comes amid growing competition in the banking sector, with recent research showing that current account customers are often unhappy but still aren't switching providers.
