Consumers who are looking for a personal loan should be prepared to haggle for a better deal, according to Picture Financial.
Afraid of looking foolish or acknowledgeable, most consumers simply accept the rates and perks which are offered with a loan, when really they could be asking for a lot more.
Julia Dallimore, Picture Financial's Marketing Director told The Thrifty Scot: "We are a nation of increasingly savvy shoppers. However, our research shows that this doesn't extend to financial services and many people could be missing out on better deals on their finances as a result of this knowledge gap."
Fear of being rejected by a lender is another reason why consumers dare not question whether they can get a better deal, according to experts at The Thrifty Scot, but the website explains that often a "no" doesn't necessarily mean a permanent rejection.
Thrifty Scot also recommended looking for loans away from the Big Five as well as consulting the high street banks as sometimes smaller lenders could offer a more personal, better deal.
