Over ten million UK adults plan on going back to school this year by taking an educational course outside of their current job, with 2% of these planning to use a personal loan to cover the cost.
According to Abbey loans, 38% plan to study a a subject that will help them change their career and escape the job rut they have become stuck in.Over 40% of people said they were going to use their savings to pay for the cost of studying, while nearly a quarter said they planned to make do with a monthly allowance.
Paul Morrish, Head of Abbey Loans said: "With so many of us planning to undertake an extra curricular course in the next twelve months, it's clear that Britons have a strong desire to keep on learning.
"It's also great to see that so many people stuck in jobs they'd rather not be in, have the will to do something about it while they can."
Career shifts planned included moving from a shop assistant to a forensic technician, university lecturer to pilot, pensions administrator to photographer and a scaffolder who wanted to retrain as a feng-shui teacher.
