Many people in the Devon area have asked for help with their debt problems recently, according to new figures revealed by the Citizens Advice Bureau. In the last year the company has dealt with 7,649 cases of debt, it stated, which in total amounted to £2 million, reports the Mid Devon Star. Roy Grantham, Tiverton advice service manager, stated that debt worries - in some cases created on personal loans - do not appear to be subsiding. "There seems no end to the number of people that need our help to address their problems," he commented. He added that in April, May and June this year the amount of people the firm has given assistance to has grown by 18 per cent. Furthermore, he remarked that Mid-Devon Citizens Advice Bureau is looking for volunteers to help marshall this level of debt. Shadow Chancellor Liberal Democrat Vince Cable recently stated that rising inflation is likely to impact on already stretched families.
