95 per cent satisfied with new energy efficient homes
It will be a requirement from 2016 that all new homes are constructed to zero carbon emission standards, meaning occupants will benefit from a more energy efficient abode.
Despite this the report found that only 12% of home buyers looked at the Energy Performance Certificates of a property in order to influence their choice.
It also emerged that inconsistent information is provided to families living in energy efficient homes.
Neil Jefferson, Director of the NHBC Foundation, told the news provider: "The research suggests that parts of the new home supply chain could be making the topic of energy efficiency too complicated, from the range of terminologies used, to the technologies themselves."
Those living in normal homes can increase their energy efficiency through increased insulation and double glazing.
