British Gas named country's cheapest energy supplier
Emma Bush, Energy Expert at the site, commented: "Online energy plans are consistently the most competitive in the market, but British Gas' new WebSaver 6 launched today comes in at £899 a year."
She suggested that this gives people the chance to reduce their energy bills back to pre-2008 prices, as the average bill stood at £912 a year ago.
Customers should think about moving their energy plan online, Ms Bush recommended, as moving to a dual fuel package paid by direct debit could lead to large savings.
The BBC recently learnt from Ofgem's Chief Executive Alistair Buchanan that UK energy bills are set to rise by 20% over the next ten years.
