Clarence House leads the way with energy efficiency
The project has been given the go-ahead by Westminster City Council, which confirmed that the panels will be discretely hidden on the Grade I listed building.
A Council Spokesperson commented: "There were no objections and the application was not considered contentious.
"We trust it will make a positive contribution to the Prince of Wales's efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of Clarence House."
Council documents state that the project will help with meeting the UK's 2020 renewable energy target, as well as environmental standards set by the Mayor of London.
In recent weeks, it was revealed that scientists from the University of Leicester had developed a spray-on film that could be used to turn surfaces into solar panels.
