A crackdown on door-to-door energy sales has seemingly been ignored by some, it has been claimed.

Several consumer groups have noted that doorstep selling is as prevalent as it was before Ofgem regulations came into effect, the Daily Mail reports.

A Spokesperson for Citizens Advice confirmed that pressure selling is still an issue, with many vulnerable customers such as the elderly having been approached in recent months.

"This includes misleading information about 'savings' where people end up with much higher bills and being transferred to a different supplier without their knowledge or consent," they explained.

Hannah Mummery from Consumer Focus also expressed similar concerns to the paper, noting that many people are encouraged to switch to deals that will leave them worse off.

Energy supplier First Utility recently confirmed that there should be a review of the customer threshold that energy companies currently need to adhere to.
