UK 'needs to do more with renewable energy'
Matthew Scully, a spokesman for the British Wind Energy Association, believes some countries are better positioned to create their own electricity.
He continues: "In places like Portugal they are using wind and tidal hubs which we have in abundance here.
"They are already generating 70% of their national electricity through renewable means."
Mr Scully believes that as a country the UK is lagging behind other areas of Europe, although it is quite well placed in terms of the world stage.
With uSwitch.com, finding a new electricity supplier is quick and easy.
Statistics from Friends of the Earth show two per cent of UK energy (and under 5% of UK electricity) comes from renewable sources.
