Yorkshire Water has launched an initiative aimed at helping children in Doncaster and the surrounding area learn to swim.
The water provider has pledged £20,000 to help children across the region learn to swim. Yorkshire Water's Swimcare initiative was started five years ago and will be run this year in partnership with the Amateur Swimming Association.
Other areas set to benefit from the scheme include York, Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Selby and Tadcaster.
Anne Reed, Yorkshire Water community affairs manager, said: "There is widespread concern that children are missing out on the opportunity to develop their swimming skills, partly due to lack of funding.
"We recognise swimming to be such an important skill to have and if we can help one child to keep out of trouble in the water then it will have been a worthwhile investment."
