Anglian Water announces new year water quality works

28 December 2006

Anglian Water has announced that work is to begin on improving the water quality in two villages in Norwich as part of a £1.2 million scheme.

The work, part of a larger £86 million project by Anglian Water to maintain and enhance water quality across the region, will begin next month.

"The object of the scheme is to enhance the quality of the water supply customers receive," said media manager Collette Nicholls.

"There will be some disruption to supply, but we will endeavour to keep this to a minimum. Customers will receive notification in advance with details of the date and the times their supply will be affected."

Works will take place in High Oak, Hingham and at Tivetshall, with water mains being replaced in both areas. The work will be carried out by Balfour Beatty Utilities on behalf of Anglian Water.

Anglian Water has said that 99.97% of its water complies with mandatory standards when tested.

The company also recently announced a scheme to reduce the risk of flooding for a number of properties in Basildon through work costing £136,000.
