Water watchdog to promise renewed consumer-focussed at conference

19 April 2007

The Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) has pledged to continue fighting for better customer service and improved value for money ahead of its annual conference.

Held at the County Hotel in Chelmsford, Essex on April 24th, CCWater will use the meeting to discuss the consumer issues facing the water industry, as well as providing a soap box for customers to tell the watchdog what more it wants the water sector to do for them.

The conference will also give CCWater the chance to showcase its Forward Work Programme - the body of work which details the issues that it will focus on.

This year the focus includes fighting for a reliable sewerage service for all, ensuring customers are getting a good deal for their money and improving its influence and that of consumers within the water industry.

Catherine Harvey, Chairman of the Consumer Council for Water Eastern, said: "This meeting is an ideal opportunity for customers to find out about what we will do on their behalf for the coming year and beyond.

"Those who attend will also have the chance to get a personal explanation about our Programme as CCWater Eastern Committee members and I will be on-hand to answer your questions or queries."
