A host of customer-focussed initiatives announced by Anglian Water has won the praise of the Consumer Council for Water (CCWater).
Having recently announced a profit of 45.2 million, the water supplier revealed that the some of the money was going towards efforts designed principally with the consumer in mind.
These initiatives include a 50 million investment programme to secure water supplies in case of future droughts or interruptions to supply, affecting customers in Peterborough, Corby, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Wellingborough, Kettering, Daventry, Buckingham, Norwich, Wisbech, Bedford, Kings Lynn, Newmarket, Ipswich, parts of Essex and throughout Suffolk.
Catherine Harvey, Chairman of the Consumer Council for Water Eastern, commented: "We are pleased that Anglian Water is sharing its healthy financial performance with customers by investing in some service improvements."
In addition, Anglian Water is also in the process of organising rebates for customers who have paid the 32 surface water drainage fees unnecessarily.
Ms Harvey added that the consumer action group was convinced that the service enhancements outlined by Anglian Water will be welcomed by many customers in the region and that CCWater looked forward to discussing them with the supplier in more detail.
