Southern Water in running for green award

31 August 2007

Southern Water has been shortlisted for the Green Apple Environment award. The nomination is for its campaign, launched this summer, which urged children and families to "Go Green with Shrek the Third".

The campaign used Shrek the Third as well as the cartoon characters from the trilogy of films including Donkey and Puss in Boots on posters, bookmarks and door hangers and were distributed at summer road shows in the region.

Southern Water teamed up with the Environment Agency, Consumer Council for Water and Waterwise as well as Paramount Pictures in the campaign.

Meyrick Gough, Southern Water's Water Strategy Planning Manager, said: "This fun campaign was designed to encourage our customers to think about the value of water and how they can all do their bit to cut down on waste water and recycle."
The Green Apple Environment Awards are organised by the Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-activist, non-profit environment group, which aims to recognise and reward environmental best practice around the world.
