The Consumer Council for Water (CCW) has issued a call for a water provider to match its profits with improved services.
Last week, Wessex Water released its 2007 interim review, which hailed the firm's collaboration with local Citizens Advice Bureaux to improve customer service.
An operating profit of £97 million - a 14.7% increase over 2006's figure - was also announced by the firm.
Profits after tax for the year to September 2007 grew £5.5 million to hit £52 million.
The review also announced that the water supplier was beating its annual leakage target by the rate of 2 million litres per day - with levels of water lost half of what they were a decade ago.
Charles Howeson, Chairman of the Western Committee for the Consumer Council for Water, said: "Wessex Water's interim report shows that they have delivered their obligations to customers in the last six months, through exceeding their target for reducing leakage, bringing in major improvements on their infrastructure, and meeting new demands for water."
He added: "Wessex Water’s customers will expect Ofwat to take note of the profits that have followed their 2005-10 price limits, and ensure that in the forthcoming price review for 2010-15, the balance between the price paid by customers and the corporate profit for the company is significantly redressed."
