Water-hit shop 'open soon'

30 April 2008

A retailer hit by a burst water main has said that it is looking to open its doors again in the near future.

Officials at Furniture Warehouse in Barnstaple have revealed their shock at how a stream of water poured into the shop last week, reports Devon 24.

Much of the stock was destroyed at the site, such as beds, cabinets and other items of furniture, following the recent incident, stated Manager Martin Fitzgerald.

"I looked out the back and it was like Niagara Falls out there," he told the paper.

"It's just one of those things that happens and we are dealing with it."

He added that normality ought to be restored at the venue, while limited trading is possible at the present time.

Another burst water main in Weymouth caused problems for drivers and residents alike, while the fire services had to deal with the mass of water.
