Bristol Water profits 'are down'

30 May 2008

Post-tax profits at Bristol Water are down on the 2006-07 period, the firm has revealed.

For the last financial year, profits stood at £14.5 million, lower than the £16.4 million posted for the 12 months beforehand, reports the Bristol Evening Post.

The firm stated that profits have been impacted on by a number of factors such as a spending regime, increased chemical costs and debts.

John Moger Wolley, Chairman at the outfit, stated that despite the developments it is the intention of Bristol Water to keep water bills at an acceptable level.

"It has been another highly satisfactory year for Bristol Water. We have made substantial progress with our capital programme and service levels to customers have been at or near the highest levels in the industry," he commented.

He added that challenges will only be met if the organisation sticks to its morals and operates efficiently and in an "innovative" manner.

Bristol Water says that it servers over a million people and looks after 14 raw water reservoirs.
