Industry regulator Ofwat has named Wessex Water as the best performing water and sewerage company in England and Wales.
The watchdog said the firm received its best ever score in a report analysis the service offered to customers by water companies.
The areas examined were customer service, sewerage, water and environmental services. Wessex Water has now taken the top spot for four consecutive years.
Its Chairman Colin Skellett said: "This has been achieved through the dedication and innovation of our staff who are committed to providing a service that exceeds customer expectation."
According to the Bath Chronicle, he said that since privatisation, Wessex Water has invested more than £2.5 billion in its infrastructure and key services.
In August, it told Ofwat it planned to invest a further £1.2 billion between 2010 and 2015 to deal with the problems posed by climate change.
Wessex Water supplies around 353 million litres of water a day to 1.25 million customers.
