'Normal water' to return to Northamptonshire

3 July 2008

Anglian Water has stated that about 75% of customers may have access to normal water conditions again by the end of the week, after it was contaminated. It suggested that boil notices could be removed by the weekend and that treatment procedures are so far going well. Chief Operating Officer at the company Peter Simpson said that "progress" has been made and this could continue as the week reaches its conclusion. "Our aim is to return water supplies to their usual high standards as quickly as possible," he commented. He added that the firm wishes to thank everyone in the Northamptonshire area for the patience they have shown during a difficult time. Traces of Cryptosporidium were found in the water supply last week, meaning that bottled water had to be shipped out to families. In other water news, Severn Trent Water has this week been given a fine after allegedly lying when publishing leakage data.
