Orange news

Broadband provider, Orange, has announced that it has ended its free laptop offer that it was providing in conjunction with PC World.

The companies were offering a free laptop when consumers signed up to Orange's broadband offering, but the deal has come to an abrupt end after a month of promotion.

Industry source Pocket Lint suggests that the deal was "too good to be true" in the long-term, but it seems to have had the impact Orange would have been hoping for, with many people becoming interested in Orange's broadband offering thanks to the free laptop offer.

AOL and Carphone Warehouse have responded to the offer with very similar deals and at present that promotion remains ongoing, albeit described as a "limited" offer.

However, if the AOL offering remains popular and continues to prove successful, Orange may find that it needs to resurrect its own offer to make sure it is competing effectively.
