A UK firm has launched the first ever broadband recovery service to help users encountering technical problems get assistance quicker than they do with call centres.
For a monthly charge, subscribers to London-based SOS Broadband will be able to call on the firm's team of technicians for assistance with software and technical glitches.
The service, which uses a freephone number and is available 24 hours per day, is aimed at business customers who cannot afford to be disconnected from the internet while stuck in queues for their provider's help lines.
Naresh Sharma, SOS Broadband founder, said: "Internet access is now the fourth utility. For regular users who rely on their connection, loss of broadband can be stressful, isolating and disempowering.
"Research shows that internet outage for even a day can significantly impair our established routine and cause symptoms of deprivation."
Under the terms of customer contracts, SOS Broadband also pledges to replace faulty equipment with temporary solutions for use by the customer for up to three months.
