UK broadband users are missing out on significant savings by failing to shop around for the best deal, it has been claimed.
According to a study conducted by Broadbandchoices.co.uk, UK broadband users are failing to take advantage of the range of deals available.
The principal reason for this is that many mistakenly believe that they would not be able to secure the same package elsewhere - a factor cited by 35 per cent of respondents.
Meanwhile, 29 per cent said they had not bothered to check whether they could make savings because they regard it as an unnecessary hassle.
However, this combination of apathy and ignorance means that thousands of surfers are missing out on savings, according to Michael Phillips, product director at the broadband news provider.
He said:" Switching broadband provider can potentially get you a faster internet connection, better service and it can save you money.
"Moreover, if consumers shop around, it needn't mean entering into a punitive long-term contract. Consumers should act now in order to get the best deal for 2008."
