BT has announced that it will now be offering customers an internet-capable smartphone as part of its Total Broadband Anywhere package.
For £23.99 per month - an additional £5 on the cost of its existing Option 3 package - customers will be able to use both high-speed broadband services at home and cheaper call rates while on the move using the smartphone devices.
When customers are in range of a BT Wi-Fi hotspot, the phone will allow users to make calls over the internet for less than usual mobile call rates. The group has said that the new product responds to a consumer and business need for streamlined communications.
John Petter, managing director of consumer services at BT, said: "Communications services are converging and it is clear that customers want consistent access to the things that matter not only at home but in the palm of their hands wherever they are."
However, for those looking to take advantage of the deal, moneysupermarket.com has noted that consumers should be aware of the restrictive 10MB download limits on the smartphone.
For those with heavier usage habits, larger allowances are available.
