The warmer months provide office workers with the perfect opportunity to make use of mobile broadband.
Such is the assertion of BT which reports that with last weekend seeing the official start of the summer, those in offices should take the time to do some work outdoors and enjoy the sunshine.
The news comes as a study carried out by Ciao Research for BT Wireless Broadband reveals about two-thirds of workers claim to be depressed that they are unable to escape their desk in order to see more daylight.
Dave Hughes, director of Wireless Broadband at BT Retail, said: "Out of the office no longer means 'out of touch' and workers can stay just as productive when not chained to their desks.
"The number of Wi-Fi enabled devices flying off the shelves coupled with widely available hotspots provides the tools to support remote working."
Meanwhile, those making use of mobile broadband to do work out of the office were advised to ensure they have a secure connection and that firewalls are activated before leaving work.
In other news, Torbjorn Possne, senior vice-president of sales and marketing for Ericsson, stated that by 2013 the number of mobile broadband users could stand at 2.2 billion.
