The increasing availability of high-speed broadband in the UK could lead to a surge in online bingo players, according to one gaming industry head.
Warwick Bartlett, the chairman of Global Betting and Gaming Consultants recently spoke at the Bingo Summit in London, expressing that, fuelled by the upsurge in broadband users, online bingo could eventually take 25 per cent of the international betting market.
He told online gaming news provider Bingo Street: "As broadband penetration increases, people become more conscious about the cost of driving to real-world bingo halls.
"When they find out that they can't smoke when they get there, online bingo becomes more and more attractive."
According to Bingo Port, £600 million worth of online bingo tickets are bought in the UK every year.
Sun Bingo is said to have the biggest share of the UK online bingo market with 19 per cent, followed by Foxy Bingo with 13 per cent and Jackpot Joy with 10 per cent.
