O2 news

Broadband users on O2's UK network can now purchase the Compass 885 USB Modem, launched by O2 and Sierra Wireless.

O2 is targeting mobile professionals, laptop computer users and frequent travellers with the device, which features download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and upload speeds of up to 2Mbps.

With a microSD memory card slot coming with tri-band HSPA/UMTS support and quad-band GSM/EDGE support, the USB modem works with both Macs and PCs, O2 says.

Jim Lahey, Sierra Wireless' EMEA vice president, said of the new device: "The Compass 885 USB modem is designed to satisfy the pace and needs of busy mobile professionals.

"It offers ease of use, worldwide high-speed roaming for simple, reliable connectivity while travelling, with a small, minimalist design."

O2 is selling the Compass 885 to customers via its website. The company, founded in 2002, now boasts more customers than any other UK mobile network.
