Broadband provider PlusNet has gone with a James Bond theme for a fundraising night in aid of St Luke's Hospice, Sheffield.

The event at the city's Royal Victoria Hotel, on Thursday, July 17th, will have a Casino Royale feel, featuring a Martini drinks reception and six casino table open to gambling for guests provided with $100 'fun money'.

PlusNet is organising the date as part of the 2008 Master Cutler's Challenge, in which groups and businesses local to Sheffield organise events to raise money for St Luke's and Rotherham hospices.

The firm's chief executive, Neil Laycock, told the Sheffield Telegraph: "St. Luke's is central to the local community and PlusNet is proud to support such a great cause."

A BT subsidiary, PlusNet is based in Sheffield, with more than 200 staff working out of its Yorkshire offices.

The firm started-up as an internet provider in 1997, since when it has built up a broadband customer base totalling over 200,000.
