Triple-play provider 3PlayPlus's 'HomeVision' IPTV service will benefit from a new digital security system.

The Irish-based provider - which offers an extensive IPTV package, fixed-line and broadband in the same deal - has employed the content protection firm SecureMedia with its Encryptonite ONE System to tighten up its service for users.

Chief executive of the firm, Terry Crowley, explained that due to the breadth of the offerings 3PlayPlus provides - including a video-on-demand library - the security steps were necessary.

He said: "We established our progressive, innovative network to deliver the best in class of digital TV, VOD, broadband and telephone services while offering our customers a rich portfolio of premium entertainment.

"To obtain and distribute this high quality entertainment, we required an 'open' digital security that would expand with our growing our national broadband converged network and still offer us the flexibility to add new services."

Encryptonite ONE System won this year's IPTV World Series Award for best content protect.
