ITN has reached an agreement with Harmonic to transcode and package its news for a number of platforms, including broadband.

The news provider currently channels broadband content through Vodafone, MSN, Yahoo!, Orange, T-Mobile, Mirror Group, Virgin Media, Telegraph Group, YouTube and Bebo.

According to ITN, it has chosen Harmonic's Rhozet Carbon Coder due to the increasing number of different destinations its growing amount of content was required to be sent to.

Explaining the function of the Carbon Coder, Harmonic said in a statement: "Rhozet Carbon Coder allows ITN to rapidly deliver nearly 1000 video clips each day to its mobile, broadband, IPTV and commercial archive footage clients."

ITN On, the organisation's multimedia division, has been a major player in producing news and entertainment content for mobile and broadband platforms, such as Vodafone Live!.
