The advent of broadband has contributed to the growth of online marking, one digital marketing news provider has suggested.

Net Imperative believes that marketers are seeing a window of opportunity as broadband speeds increase.

Better connections are now allowing for more multi-media, such as online videos and other techniques, in order to grab customers' attention.

According to the firm: "As broadband internet speeds become the norm across Europe advertisers are increasingly grasping the opportunity to use video and multi-media applications in their online campaigns to engage with the audience."

The observation was based on findings from a recent study conducted by the Interactive Advertising Bureau Europe which represents over 5,000 companies from 23 countries.

Figures released by the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers earlier in the year cited a 21 per cent rise in online marketing spend in the UK.
