Those signing up to broadband services in today's climate should consider the amount of time they will spend using the service, one money advisor has recommended.

Financial solutions provider JST Financial Solutions has made efforts to make prospective broadband customers aware of the different usage criteria on which to base a decision to opt for a deal.

The company has stressed that most deals will have limitations of some sort, whether in the form of a stringent fair usage policy or download limit.

According to JST Financial Solutions: "Some providers offer special promotions, such as unlimited downloads, but may limit your usage. Other providers may offer unlimited usage but limit your download capacity.

"There can often be additional fees should you exceed any part of your service, which is something to consider when choosing your provider."

Sky claims to offer the only truly unlimited broadband offer in the UK, after removing the fair usage policy from its Sky Max package.
