BT's large subscriber base could be maintained over the coming year, despite coming under increasing pressure from fellow broadband providers.

Broadband Finder's Thomas Newton says that although a range of enticing deals look set to come on the market in 2009, BT can stay one step ahead by devising its own special offers.

An example of this, Mr Newton says, is the free Home Hub wireless router now available with any BT Total Broadband package.

Mr Newton explained: "Including the new BT Home Hub 2.0 - which originally cost £90 when it was first released - free on all BT Broadband packages will undoubtedly be a hit with customers looking to cut back the costs in these difficult times."

The Home Hub 2.0 features a cordless phone and wireless router rolled into one and it also comes with new security features.
