Orange will hand a group of its subscribers the opportunity to enjoy fixed-line broadband with speeds of up to 20Mb.

The broadband ISP will be monitoring performance as part of trials ahead of a roll-out across the whole Orange broadband network.

Subscribers that have been chosen to receive the upgraded speeds will not be required to pay any more for the privilege.

"This trial is an important step in enabling us to offer up to 20Mb home broadband to consumers across our network," said Asif Aziz, Orange UK's director of broadband and home.

"It is also testament to our ongoing commitment to evolve our fixed broadband service and ensure we offer customers a truly reliable user experience."

Orange recently made's top three for fixed-line broadband download speeds.
