Broadband provider Virgin Media has announced a new tariff for mobile internet users.

The Addict tariff for customers on pay as you go packages offers unlimited internet access for a fixed monthly fee.

Users who sign up to the payment plan will need to top up with £20 per month to gain unlimited texts and unlimited mobile internet access.

Topping up with £15 a month generates 600 free texts, while a monthly payment of £10 leads to 300 free texts.

Graeme Oxby, Managing Director of mobile for Virgin Media, explained that the tariff is designed to accommodate customer demand for mobile internet.

"The Addict tariff is a perfect fit with 21st century lifestyles and particularly those customers who love to stay connected to friends and family with text messages and online through email and social networks," he said.

Virgin Media is currently pioneering high-speed home broadband and will start on a project to upgrade 2Mb customers to 10Mb next month.
