Virgin Media will offer 7GB of storage to its home broadband customers as part of a new deal with Google.
The internet service provider (ISP) has developed an enhanced Google Mail service for use by broadband customers with @virginmedia.com email addresses.
This is one of the largest rollouts of the Google Partner Edition Apps which allows businesses to use the online firm's software under their own domain name.
Customers signed up to one of Virgin Media's broadband packages will be able to use up to ten Virgin email addresses per household.
An instant messaging service, phishing filters and the ability to access emails via mobile phones, as well as the 7GB storage capacity will also be offered.
"With email so important in everyday life, we're delighted to be working with Google and launching a brand new, feature-rich and easy to use email service," said Virgin Media's Executive Director for Online Alex Green.
"We look forward to exploring future services with Google and continuing to deliver market-leading communications and entertainment to our customers."
The new service will be piloted by the first 20,000 customers to sign up, with a full launch expected later this year.
