More investment is needed in the broadband infrastructure of Lincolnshire, a group of MPs has suggested.

According to the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, businesses based in the county are losing out on tens of thousands of pounds due to their slow internet connections.

Extra funding has been requested by the politicians following complaints from local firms that they regularly have problems with the speed of their broadband, reported.

The companies say that they often have trouble doing simple things such as sending emails, conducting marketing and buying and selling.

Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce asserted that this makes it much harder for businesses to operate and also deters other firms from working in the area.

Alan Wiles, Manager of LA Wiles, an industrial oil tanker firm based in Aisthorpe, near Scampton, told the site that internet connection problems can be disastrous.

He said: "It is a nightmare when the system goes down. It does happen."
