Three news

The parent company of broadband operator 3 has revealed that its number of customers has risen dramatically this year.

According to figures released earlier this week by Hutchison Whampoa, the 3 Group experienced a 170 per cent increase in mobile broadband consumers during the first six months of 2009.

The statistics, which related to the six-month period up to June 30th, revealed that 3 now has an impressive 3.8 million mobile broadband subscribers.

Moreover, the report also indicated that 3 enjoyed a two per cent rise in revenue during the first half of 2009.

In a statement, Hutchison Whampoa said: "Although ARPU (average revenue per active user) declined in local currencies, total revenue overall increased three per cent from the comparable period last year."
