Coffee chain Starbucks has announced that consumers who participate in its loyalty card scheme will be able to receive free Wi-Fi broadband access at its outlets.

The company has revealed that those who have signed up to the Starbucks Cards Rewards programme will be eligible for access to BT Openzone services at over 650 coffeehouses throughout the UK and Ireland.

BT home and business broadband customers with inclusive Wi-Fi minutes can already access the services as part of their contracts.

Chris Bruce, Chief Executive Officer of BT Openzone, said: "Starbucks is giving more customers access to a great place to work or catch up over email.

"The agreement marries excellent in-store Wi-Fi with the highest quality coffee."

Last month, BT revealed that its Openzone high-speed public wireless broadband hotspots are now available at 500,000 locations across the UK and Ireland.
